Latvia’s head coach Luca Banchi has announced that his tenure with the national team will come to an end following EuroBasket 2025.
The Italian coach, who led Latvia to a historic fifth-place finish at the FIBA World Cup 2023, confirmed that his decision was made in advance and that he does not see the possibility of extending his role beyond the upcoming EuroBasket.
“It’s a decision that I have already made. When I extended my contract, I knew that. I didn’t see how this commitment could be prolonged,” stated the head coach of Anadolu Efes.
Under Banchi’s leadership, Latvia has established itself as one of the rising forces in international basketball. With EuroBasket 2025 as his final tournament, he will aim to leave on a high note and help Latvia achieve another strong result on the continental stage.
