Luka Doncic admitted that he does not watch much NBA action when asked to comment on the Toronto Raptors.
The Los Angeles Lakers saw their 7-game winning streak come to an end after losing at home to the Phoenix Suns.
Luka Doncic finished the game with 38 points (12/18 2PT, 3/8 3PT, 5/5 FT), 11 rebounds, and 5 assists, but the Slovenian superstar also committed 9 turnovers.
In the post-game press conference, Doncic took full responsibility for the loss.
“Yeah, that was my fault, no way that I can have 9 turnovers in a single game,” Doncic said.
“In that second quarter, instead of taking some shots, it seems I tried to get [other guys] involved, but there is no way that I should have 9 turnovers.”
Doncic explained that the Suns’ defensive strategy was different from what they are used to.
“Yeah, it was kinda different. Their defense allowed me to score, but tried to prevent me from creating for others, so definitely that confused us a bit,” Doncic added.
Even though Luka Doncic was the team’s top scorer, he blamed himself for the loss due to the high number of turnovers.
Later in the same press conference, Doncic revealed that the NBA is not one of his major interests outside the court.
With the Lakers preparing to face another tough opponent — the Toronto Raptors — Doncic was asked to comment ahead of the matchup.
“Honestly, I’m not watching much of the NBA, I’m sorry,” Doncic began.
“I know what kind of record they have, what kind of coach they have, I love him, and I know he’s making them play physical basketball,” he said.
He clarified that he does not follow much NBA action but is fully aware of what Darko Rajakovic is building in Toronto.
