A surprising “bomb” recently echoed through the basketball world — the idea that Malik Beasley, a longtime NBA veteran, would join Partizan during a period of major crisis for the Serbian club.
However, it now appears that this move will not happen.
The report that Beasley is heading to Serbia was first denied by his agent, Brian Jungreis, who told Front Office Sports that while there have been conversations with the Black-and-Whites, the two sides are far from any kind of agreement.
“Those reports are blown out of proportion. We talked and there is some framework, but we are not even close to closing or finalizing anything at this moment,” Jungreis told FOS.
He also dismissed the idea that Beasley would sign overseas without an NBA opt-out clause — something that was initially suggested as a condition in Partizan’s offer.
“The report that there is no NBA opt-out clause is 100% false. We would never agree to that, if he plays anywhere other than the NBA,” Jungreis added.
The possibility of a move to Partizan was then further addressed by the player himself, who — in an unverified video circulating on social media — reportedly shut down the rumors.
“They are saying I am coming to Serbia,” Beasley said to the camera, followed by: “I am not coming!”
As a reminder, Beasley recently became one of the key subjects in an NBA investigation into illegal sports betting, which has delayed his opportunity to sign a new contract — despite averaging 16.3 points per game last season for the Detroit Pistons in 2024-25.
He was expected to cash in on that strong campaign. The Pistons reportedly offered him a three-year deal worth $42 million, but everything ultimately fell through.
