According to information coming from Istanbul, Besiktas have completed a very important piece of business and signed Matt Thomas, who started the season with Granada.
Given the club’s clear stance of supporting head coach Dusan Alimpijevic, and after publicly stating just a few days ago that the roster would be strengthened, the official announcement of the signing is now expected. The excellent shooter, whose biggest weapon is his three point shot, should continue the season in Turkey if everything is finalized without complications.
This season, over 14 games played, Matt Thomas has averaged 14.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, and two assists per game, with impressive shooting percentages. He is shooting 46.2 percent both from two point range and from beyond the arc, while converting 88 percent of his free throws.
Before moving to the NBA, Matt Thomas played for Valencia and Obradoiro. He then appeared in 126 NBA games for the Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz, and Chicago Bulls, before returning to Europe. After that, he spent two seasons with Alba Berlin, moved to Granada, and now, by all indications, Besiktas will be his next destination.
