Hapoel Tel Aviv has officially confirmed another signing ahead of the new season.
Experienced guard Max Heidegger has joined Hapoel, signing a contract that ties him to the Israeli powerhouse through the end of the 2026/27 campaign.
Heidegger arrives at Tel Aviv following a brief stint with Spanish side San Pablo Burgos, where he averaged 12.4 points across nine games late last season. Before his spell on the Iberian Peninsula, he served as the primary offensive focal point for Bnei Herzliya, leading the team with 15.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game across 17 appearances.
Interestingly, his professional career originally began in Israel with Hapoel’s arch-rivals, Maccabi Tel Aviv. He also has Euroleague experience, playing 12 games for Baskonia, in which he averaged 2.5 points and 2 assists.
Club reactions and first words from the new signing
By securing a proven scorer, head coach Dimitris Itoudis and general manager George Chinas have acquired exactly the backcourt profile they were looking for.
Head coach Dimitris Itoudis made no secret of his satisfaction regarding the signing:
“We welcome Max Heidegger, a highly talented and intelligent player at the point guard position. We look forward to working with him. I spoke with him during the summer; he is extremely motivated and fully aware of where he is coming to and what is expected of him.”
