Olympiacos have officially signed Mbaye Ndiaye, with the Senegalese forward joining the Greek club on a two-year contract after leaving Asvel.
The move comes just weeks after Mbaye Ndiaye extended his contract with Asvel through 2029, adding another unusual twist to the French club’s turbulent offseason.
Ndiaye spent the last three seasons in Villeurbanne after joining Asvel from ADA Blois in 2023. He now becomes the latest player to leave the club after initially being expected to remain part of its plans for the 2026-27 season.
The Senegalese forward had his most productive EuroLeague season in 2025-26, appearing in 32 games and averaging 7.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. He also averaged 9.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.2 blocks in 26 LNB Pro A appearances.
Ndiaye’s combination of size, athleticism and defensive activity made him an important two-way contributor for Asvel, and Olympiacos have now secured his services for the next two seasons.

Mbaye Ndiaye becomes latest Asvel departure
Ndiaye’s move is particularly notable because Asvel had only recently committed to him for the long term.
The French club announced on July 8 that the forward had signed a three-year contract extension, which was supposed to keep him in Villeurbanne through the end of the 2028-29 season. However, reports emerged just weeks later that Asvel could sell Ndiaye amid interest from several clubs. That speculation has now resulted in his departure to Olympiacos.
The situation is another example of how dramatically Asvel’s plans have changed during the offseason. Ndiaye is not the only player whose situation has changed after initially agreeing to join or remain with the club. Sylvain Francisco, Armoni Brooks and Nick Weiler-Babb were all initially expected to become part of Asvel’s roster, only for their situations to change after the club encountered financial difficulties.
Francisco eventually joined Panathinaikos, Brooks moved to Valencia, while Weiler-Babb signed with Crvena Zvezda.
Olympiacos continues summer roster reshaping
Mbaye Ndiaye is the latest addition to an Olympiacos roster that has undergone significant changes during the offseason.
As part of their EuroLeague transactions, Olympiacos have already seen several notable departures. Shaquielle McKissic, Alec Peters, Moustapha Fall, Frank Ntilikina, Monte Morris and Keenan Evans have officially left the club.
The Greek powerhouse has so far announced two other additions, signing Codi Miller-McIntyre and Jean Montero before completing the deal for Ndiaye.
