The Miami Heat have been one of the more entertaining teams to watch this season in the NBA, but that style has a price.
Head coach Erik Spoelstra has changed the way the Miami Heat have been playing basketball this year, in a revolutionary twist. The Heat have the number one pace in the NBA and have far and away the lowest amount of pick and roll actions in the entire NBA.
This has benefitted the Heat after losing some of their best players over the last few years, with the emergence of some younger forces, as well as first-time All-Star Norman Powell. However, the way that the Heat have played this season has been an issue for them with their inability to stop the pace and hold onto the ball.
The Heat have blown 31 double-digit leads this year which places them far and away atop of the standings, with no other team being close to having such up and down segments in their play. The team has not been able to get in any kind of major winning streak due to their inconsistency, and it is something Spoelstra and the coaching staff will look to correct as they try to fight to make the playoffs.
The Heat have a 27-26 record, squarely on the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference as they are chasing the Philadelphia 76ers to get into the top six seeds, which guarantee a direct path to the playoffs.
