Milano celebrated the contributions of American big man Kyle Hines at half-time of their contest in the Serie A against Trieste at home.
The American star, who wore the Milano jersey for four seasons between 2020 and 2024, winning the hearts of the Italian fans, was inducted into the prestigious Hall of Fame of the club. Before receiving a well-deserved embrace from the crowd on the court who appreciated everything he did for the club, Hines spoke at a press conference to share his emotions and take stock of his new professional life after hanging up his shoes:
“I’m now working in the front office for the Brooklyn Nets. I’m exploring a part of basketball that I didn’t know well. It’s an important time to learn, and I’m having a lot of fun.“
Hines’ bond with Italy and the city of Milan has remained very strong even after the end of his playing career. Therefore, the former CSKA Moscow big man was asked about a possible return to Italy at some point, whether as a part of the coaching staff or as a member of the front office and he left the door fairly open:
“The future can hold anything, but it will definitely be in basketball. I’m open to all options; Italy is definitely a special place, and my wife always tells me she’d like to return. At some point, I’ll return to Italy in some way, but I don’t know how or when. We’ll see.”
Hines won six trophies in Milano, with three Serie A championships between 2021 to 2023 and is widely recognized as one of the best big man to have played in European basketball during this century.
