Monaco is facing a major crisis as August draws to a close, with the Roca Team still without a new owner, leaving their participation in LNB Pro A and the EuroCup in serious doubt.
However, the suffering does not end there for Monaco, which has now received a fine from the LNB following an incident during Game 3 of the 2025/26 LNB Pro A finals against Paris.
Game 3 incident
During that game, referee Mehdi Difallah ejected Matthew Strazel, which deeply displeased a Monaco fan who then approached the referee to verbally confront him.
That fan’s outburst has resulted in sanctions for the French club.
According to BeBasket, Monaco was condemned for “a security incident related to the public.”
If they manage to re-register for LNB Pro A in the autumn, they will have to pay a fine of €1,000, accompanied by a suspended fine of an additional €1,000.
This amount is smaller than the one imposed on June 16 for the same reason, when Monaco received a €1,500 fine.

Monaco’s fight for survival
For now, these are the least of Monaco’s problems, as the club faces a fight for its very survival after Jamal Mashburn reportedly backed out of the takeover process. Mashburn has failed to provide the financial guarantees required to move forward with his proposed takeover of the Roca Team.
With Mashburn’s project once again in serious doubt, attention has shifted to the alternative proposal involving Clayton S.A. and Ronaldinho.
The group submitted a letter of intent to Monaco earlier this month, with the proposal reportedly including the settlement of the club’s €2.5 million EuroLeague debt, a €5 million bank guarantee, and an investment of approximately €10 million per season for three to five years.
