Monaco has been left with only 10 healthy players for the remainder of the season after Nikola Mirotic suffered a plantar fascia injury that could keep him off the court for weeks or even end his season.
Earlier today, “L’Equipe” reported that the Greek coach has decided not to lead his team in tonight’s match against Cholet in the 21st round of the French league. It is currently unclear whether this means Vassilis Spanoulis has resigned, gone on strike, or something else.
In just a few days, Monaco has also lost two players. First, Yoan Makoundou left the team a few days ago, and today it was announced that David Michineau has also departed the club.

According to the newspaper “Nice Matin” Nikola Mirotic will be sidelined for an indefinite period. This type of injury can be treated in two ways: with rest, which usually lasts six to eight weeks, or with surgery, after which the recovery period is around four months, which would most likely mean the end of his season.
Because of this, Monaco currently has only 10 healthy players available: Elie Okobo, Terry Tarpey, Nemanja Nedovic, Matthew Strazel, Mike James, Alpha Diallo, Jaron Blossomgame, Juhann Begarin, Daniel Theis and Kevarrius Hayes.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that the club is currently under a transfer ban, which prevents it from registering new players. This means Monaco must rely exclusively on the players already on the roster. In addition, the increasingly tense atmosphere among the players is also affecting the team’s head coach, Vassilis Spanoulis, who is considering a potential departure from the club.
In Round 30, Monaco was defeated by Fenerbahce in Istanbul, 88–70. It was their seventh loss in the last eight EuroLeague games. Monaco now holds a 16–14 record and sits in ninth place in the standings, but the gap is minimal, with only one more win than the teams in 11th and 12th place.
