Jaylen Brown has been traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in a stunning NBA blockbuster deal, with the Boston Celtics receiving Paul George and multiple first- and second-round picks in return, according to Shams Charania.
The move ends weeks of speculation surrounding the future of Jaylen Brown, who had been widely expected to be on the move following Boston’s early playoff exit.
Jaylen Brown had a very strong season, playing 78 games for the Celtics and averaging 28.4 points, along with 6.8 rebounds and five assists. With Jayson Tatum missing a large part of the season due to injury, Brown took on the role of team leader, and it worked well in the regular season as the Celtics finished second in the Eastern Conference.
However, after the Celtics were eliminated already in the first round of the playoffs, precisely by the Philadelphia 76ers, and after blowing a 3-1 series lead, talk about a potential Jaylen Brown trade immediately began.

On the other side of the deal, Paul George arrives in Boston after a difficult season marked by injuries and limited availability. The 36-year-old appeared in just 49 games, averaging 17.5 points, 5 rebounds and 3.5 assists.
George has also struggled with durability in recent years, having played only 41 games in the previous season, raising questions about the long-term risk of the Celtics’ decision. The veteran forward also missed time due to a 25-game league suspension for a violation of doping rules.
The Celtics have been active throughout the offseason, also signing Mike Conley and Mitchell Robinson as they reshape their roster around a new core.
