The defending NBA champions have been busy ahead of training camp, with the New York Knicks making a flurry of roster moves and adding five experienced players to their competition for the final spots.
Bruce Brown, James Wiseman and Ochai Agbaji have joined the Knicks on non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 deals, a type of training-camp contract that allows teams to evaluate players without guaranteeing them a spot on the regular-season roster.
Drew Eubanks has also agreed to a non-guaranteed deal, while John Konchar signed a one-year contract with New York.
Brown, Wiseman, Agbaji and Eubanks were added on September 16, while Konchar joined the team a day earlier.
Bruce Brown headlines Knicks’ veteran additions
Brown is the most notable name in the group. The 30-year-old spent last season with the Denver Nuggets, appearing in all 82 regular-season games and averaging 7.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steal in 24.0 minutes per game. He shot 47.5% from the field and 38.5% from three-point range.
Brown also brings championship experience after winning the 2023 NBA title with Denver, where he played an important role during the Nuggets’ championship run.
The Knicks also added Wiseman, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. The former Golden State Warriors center has since spent time with the Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers, but injuries and an inconsistent role have prevented him from establishing himself as a regular NBA rotation player.
Wiseman appeared in only four games for Indiana last season and will now get another opportunity to revive his career with the Knicks.
Agbaji, Eubanks and Konchar add more depth
Ochai Agbaji gives New York another forward option. The former first-round pick will enter training camp looking to secure a regular-season roster spot, while Drew Eubanks provides additional size at center.
Eubanks averaged 5.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 13.1 minutes over 42 games for the Sacramento Kings last season. He has appeared in 426 NBA games throughout his career, including 86 starts.
Konchar, meanwhile, adds another veteran perimeter option with experience as a defensive-minded role player. He appeared in 56 games for the Memphis Grizzlies and Utah Jazz last season, averaging 4.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 19.9 minutes.
Knicks also make a series of Exhibit 10 moves
The veteran additions were not the only roster activity in New York Knicks.
The Knicks also signed Liam Robbins, Jaden Akins, Igor Milicic Jr., Mitch Mascari, Toby Okani, Nick Jourdain and Paul Zilinskas to Exhibit 10 contracts, which are commonly used to give players a path to the team’s G League affiliate while allowing NBA teams to retain their G League rights.
