Nick Calathes has elevated the game of Partizan this season, but from the next competitive year the veteran will wear a different black-and-white jersey.
For some time there has been talk that Nick Calathes has almost finalized everything with PAOK, and today confirmation arrived from Greece as well.
According to the reputable outlet Sport 24, the former floor general has arrived in Thessaloniki to sign a two-year contract with PAOK.
It is no secret that the Greek club has major ambitions this season both domestically and internationally, confirmed by their return to the EuroCup, while the ultimate goal is to reach the EuroLeague. The leader of this project is Andrea Trinchieri. The well-known coach has full freedom in building a highly competitive roster, and his on-court extension will be exactly Nick Calathes.
The Greek guard has shown that even in the later stages of his career he can still be a difference-maker, and his presence this season helped stabilize Partizan’s game, while at times the black-and-whites looked inconsistent without him. Calathes averaged 4.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game in the EuroLeague this season.
The Thessaloniki club has already confirmed several signings. PAOK has added former EuroLeague players Naz Mitrou-Long and Marcus Foster. The club also signed the top scorer of the LNB Pro A Trevor Hudgins, while Rayjon Tucker arrived from AEK, a player who was also on Maccabi Tel Aviv’s radar this season.
