Greek point guard Nick Calathes has officially become the newest member of PAOK, the Thessaloniki-based club announced.
Nick Calathes had been linked with the Black-and-Whites for quite some time, with the club viewing him as a leader for Andrea Trinchieri’s team in its pursuit of ambitious goals.
“PAOK announces the signing of a two-year contract with Nick Calathes. One of the best guards of the modern era, an athlete with an outstanding career at the highest level of European and world basketball, joins the PAOK family and will wear the black-and-white jersey until the summer of 2028,” the club stated in its official announcement.
The Greek veteran spent the recently concluded season with Partizan, where he arrived from Monaco and helped bring stability and organization to the team’s play. The former Greek national team star was one of the key factors behind Partizan’s strong performances during the second half of the season.
In the EuroLeague, Calathes averaged 4.3 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game. However, his impact went well beyond the statistics. Even at 37 years old, he remains capable of playing high-level defense and consistently finding open teammates for easy scoring opportunities.
