Nijel Pack suffered a scary injury during Oklahoma’s SEC Tournament game against Texas A&M. The incident happened midway through the second half and immediately raised concern on the broadcast.
With 5:46 remaining, Texas A&M guard Marcus Hill drove toward the basket. During the play, Hill collided head-to-head with Nijel Pack while attacking the rim. The Oklahoma guard fell hard to the floor and was left with a bloody nose after the contact.

Officials initially allowed play to continue. However, the referees later reviewed the sequence on the monitor. After the review, the crew upgraded the play to a Flagrant 1 foul against Hill.
The call quickly sparked debate on the SEC Network broadcast. Play-by-play commentator Tom Hart questioned the ruling. Analyst Dane Bradshaw also discussed whether the collision met the criteria for a flagrant foul.

Hart suggested the play appeared incidental. He noted that Hill did not seem to intentionally strike Pack. Meanwhile, Bradshaw argued that the visible blood may have influenced the officials’ decision to elevate the foul.
Before leaving the game, Pack delivered a strong performance for Oklahoma. The Sooners guard scored 20 points and knocked down four three-pointers during the win over Texas A&M.
Despite Pack’s exit, Oklahoma controlled the game and secured an 83–63 victory in the SEC Tournament. The Sooners now advance to the next round, where they will face Arkansas.
However, Pack’s status moving forward remains uncertain. His availability could be a key factor as Oklahoma continues its push during conference tournament play.
After the game he told the media that he doesn’t think that his nose is broken:
“My face is taking a beating this week”, he said.
