Nikola Jokic could soon make NBA history once again.
The Denver Nuggets superstar and Serbian national team leader is expected to become eligible for the biggest contract in league history, with a potential five-year extension worth approximately $359.5 million waiting for him in the summer of 2027.
According to ESPN NBA insider Bobby Marks, Jokic could sign the record-breaking deal if he decides not to extend his current contract before reaching free agency.
Jokic has opportunity to secure historic extension
Jokic is already eligible to sign a four-year contract extension worth around $278 million, but no decision has been made regarding that option.
If he chooses to wait until 2027, the value of his next deal could increase significantly, especially considering his status as one of the best players in basketball history.
The Serbian center would enter free agency under circumstances rarely seen in the NBA, with his performances and achievements making him eligible for one of the most lucrative contracts ever offered.

From second-round pick to Denver legend
Jokic entered the NBA in 2014 as the 41st overall pick in the draft, but more than a decade later he has become the greatest player in Denver Nuggets history.
He led the franchise to its first NBA championship in 2023 and has won the league MVP award three times during his career.
His rise from a second-round selection to a generational superstar has made him one of the most valuable players in the league and a cornerstone of Denver’s long-term plans.
Jokic continues dominating after another historic season
The Serbian center remains at the highest level of the NBA.
During the 2025-26 season, Jokic appeared in 65 games for the Nuggets and averaged 27.7 points, 12.9 rebounds and 10.7 assists in just under 35 minutes per game.
With his production, consistency and achievements, Jokic is positioned to become the first player in NBA history to sign a contract worth close to $360 million.
For Denver, securing the future of their franchise player will remain the top priority, while Jokic’s next decision could reshape NBA salary records forever.
