Nikola Mirotic could leave Milano at the end of the season, but that’s not a scenario the club would welcome
Nikola Mirotic is under a three-year contract with Milano, but he has an option to opt out at the end of the current season and become a free agent, according to Real Olimpia Milano.
Averaging 17.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, and two assists per game in the EuroLeague, it’s clear that Mirotic has established himself as the leader of Ettore Messina’s team.
According to ROM’s sources, Milano is prepared to offer Mirotic a new two-year deal in order to secure his services long-term. However, there’s also a scenario the club would prefer to avoid.
If Mirotic decides to chase one more major contract before the end of his career, he could do so as early as this summer. By parting ways with Milano, the Montenegrin forward would open the door to potentially joining Hapoel Tel Aviv, a club that certainly wouldn’t hesitate to spend for his signature.
Of course, in the end, it’s Mirotic who will decide his future — and given his status and the interest he commands, whatever choice he makes is unlikely to be the wrong one.
