Oded Kattash, head coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv, spoke to the media ahead of the Round 23 EuroLeague game in which his team will visit Olympiacos.
It is clear that Maccabi Tel Aviv will be aiming to record a second consecutive win after defeating Zalgiris last week, but it is also obvious that they will face a very difficult task, as they travel to face Olympiacos, who are in excellent form and have recorded five wins in their last six EuroLeague games.
Maccabi Tel Aviv head coach Oded Kattash is well aware of how demanding the task ahead of his team will be.
“Of course there are professional challenges in a schedule like this. Especially in such a long and demanding season, with many injuries. But the challenges we’re dealing with go beyond the professional aspect. It’s about managing a deep roster with constant changes and injuries. Olympiacos, for example, have had their injured players return and are in a much better situation than we are. Still, it’s a challenge one for the medical staff, for Regev and the physio team. It’s certainly a basketball challenge, but it’s something we have to overcome together as a group.”
Maccabi Tel Aviv player Marcio Santos also shared his expectations ahead of this game.
“We know this is a tough opponent that has been playing together for a long time. They have plenty of EuroLeague experience, but we’re improving day by day and we’re coming off a win against Zalgiris.”
Another member of the Israeli team, Will Rayman, spoke about what he expects from the matchup against Olympiacos, which is scheduled for Tuesday at 18:15.
“A very experienced and high-quality team. They’ve been playing together for a long time and are in good form right now. It will be a tough game, but I think we have a solid game plan and a real chance to win. We all remember the previous game against them we led by 10 in the fourth quarter and lost. We’ll go there determined to win. Clark is a very good player; he arrived last season and keeps improving from game to game. When he plays well, we play well, and he needs to keep that going.”
