Olympiacos defeated Real Madrid by 84:72 in the first game of the EuroLeague playoff series at the Peace and Friendship Stadium.
Keenan Evans was unavailable for the home team, while Real Madrid’s Bruno Fernando was dealing with an injury.
Fournier and Vezenkov led the way with a brilliant start, needing just over three minutes to give Olympiacos a double-digit lead (12:2). The gap even reached as much as 15 points in favor of the hosts, but the visitors managed to somewhat cut the deficit by the end of the first quarter (27:14).

With the entry of Llull, Real Madrid managed to claw back a bit and went into the final 10 minutes trailing by a somewhat manageable 13 points (64:51).
Just when it looked like Real Madrid was on the verge of a full comeback, they continued to commit careless turnovers, which Olympiacos capitalized on to maintain their double-digit advantage.
The ever-reliable Sergio Llull gave the Spanish powerhouse a new glimmer of hope, but his effort wasn’t matched by his teammates. That allowed Olympiacos to stay firmly in control. Real Madrid missed all the crucial shots down the stretch, particularly from beyond the arc, and Olympiacos took full advantage to close out the game in routine fashion.
Sasha Vezenkov led Olympiacos in scoring with 23 points, while Sergio Llull was Real Madrid’s top performer with 16.
