Olympiacos forward Alec Peters, experienced an unusual situation at his own home, according to European media reports.
Peters was one of the key contributors to Olympiacos winning the EuroLeague title after more than a decade of waiting. He delivered an outstanding performance at the Final Four and demonstrated just how important he is to the team from Piraeus. However, it appears increasingly likely that he will be wearing a different jersey next season.
One of Europe’s top players has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Milano, and Olympiacos supporters have tried to prevent the move in the hopes of keeping Peters for next season.
According to Greek outlet Sport24, an organized group of around 40 Olympiacos fans visited Peters at his home in Athens on Saturday evening, hoping to persuade the American forward to remain with the reigning European champions.
During the visit, the fans expressed their gratitude for everything he has done for the club and made it clear how much they would appreciate it if he decided not to leave the team.
“The love you have shown me over the past few days is unprecedented. I never expected it at all. The past week has been one of the most difficult of my career. I have unlimited respect for the club and for all of you,” said the power forward, reportedly left almost speechless by the gesture.
Olympiacos now turns its attention to the Greek League Finals against Panathinaikos, where the team will attempt to cap off a dream season.
