Tyson Ward to Basketball Sphere: I knew I would have a chance to win the title with Olympiacos
They became the first club in the modern EuroLeague era to finish the regular season in first place and go on to win the EuroLeague title in the same season.
Since the 2016/17 season, when this format began, the teams that finished first in the regular season had failed to become champions. Those teams were, in order: Real Madrid, CSKA Moscow, Fenerbahce, Barcelona twice, Olympiacos, Real Madrid once again, and Olympiacos last season.
This is the fourth EuroLeague title for Olympiacos. They first won the trophy in 1997 with Duda Ivkovic on the bench, before winning it again in 2012 when the legendary Serbian coach returned to Piraeus.
One year later, Georgios Bartzokas defended the title, and the club then waited more than a decade for another championship, finally achieving it in 2026 by defeating Real Madrid at OAKA Arena, the home of their biggest rival.
