Olympiacos vs Virtus Preview
Olympiacos have been playing their best basketball of the season over the past two months, and there is no doubt about that. Even the road loss to Dubai after overtime is far from a red flag, as it was only their second defeat in the last 18 games across all competitions. They hold a 16-9 record with one game in hand compared to their direct rivals and sit second in the standings behind Fenerbahce, who are at 18-7. While it may look like a two-win gap at first glance, that postponed game is against Fenerbahce, meaning Olympiacos are very close to the top spot given the circumstances.
Against Dubai, they faced a double-digit deficit in the final minutes, but showed strong character and fully erased it, as Evan Fournier hit a three pointer with two tenths of a second left to force overtime. In the additional five minutes, Mfiondu Kabengele proved to be an insurmountable obstacle for Olympiacos on both ends of the floor, leading to a loss. Still, considering the context and the fact they were missing as many as five injured players, there are reasons for satisfaction. They have by far the best offense in the EuroLeague, scoring 122.2 points per 100 possessions. When it comes to defense, they are slightly better than the league average, allowing 115.3 points per 100 possessions, which only shows that this roster still has plenty of room for improvement. Defensively, their biggest acquisition is Tyrique Jones, who arrived from Partizan, and it remains to be seen how much impact he will make. Sasha Vezenkov is playing at an impressive level and is once again leading the MVP race, Nikola Milutinov is having the statistically best season of his career, and Evan Fournier has found his offensive rhythm, making Olympiacos a complete package capable of winning the EuroLeague.
Virtus have shown plenty of quality so far this season and clearly highlighted their main strengths. Those are their home court, aggressive defensive approach, and strong team effort to create the best possible situations for Carsen Edwards, who is the most potent scorer on the roster. At the same time, their weaknesses have also been evident, as they perform significantly worse on the road compared to games in Bologna. Still, they managed to take advantage of Monaco’s crisis and record a win in Monte Carlo. Ahead of this game, they were defeated by Asvel, leaving them with a 12–14 record, which significantly reduced their chances of advancing to the next stage of the competition.
This roster, led from the bench by Dusko Ivanovic, is very much a team built to his liking, where everything starts with elite team defense, control of the rebounding battle on both ends of the floor, and a very low number of turnovers. Ask any coach about the fundamentals, and these factors, along with free throw percentage, are often considered three of the most important elements for securing a win. Carsen Edwards is averaging 18.5 points per game this season over 23 appearances, while shooting 34 percent from three point range on eight attempts per game. Offensively, Virtus score 114.7 points per 100 possessions, while defensively they allow 115 points per 100 possessions. That defensive number is much lower in Bologna, but their road performances have inflated the overall average. It should be noted that Alessandro Pajola has been ruled out for the rest of the season as an important rotation player, and that Matt Morgan was injured against Trento. The positive news is the return of Alen Smailagic after his injury layoff. It is also worth highlighting that Derrick Alston Jr. has been playing at a very high level lately, delivering his best performances of the season against Crvena zvezda and Monaco. It remains to be seen whether he can maintain that rhythm, which would be crucial for Virtus in their fight for a play in spot.

Olympiacos vs Virtus Best Betting Tip and Prediction
Olympiacos have by far the most efficient offense in the EuroLeague and are playing in excellent form despite the loss to Dubai in the previous round of the EuroLeague. Virtus have been playing significantly worse basketball on the road this season, which is clearly reflected in the numbers, as their away wins are truly rare. We believe they do not have the tools to match Olympiacos offensively, especially considering their injury issues and the fact they had one less day of rest along with traveling to Greece for this game. Additionally, Olympiacos have high level perimeter defenders in their backcourt who are capable of slowing down Carsen Edwards, who also performs much worse on the road than he does in Bologna. For all these reasons, the most logical expectation is a convincing win for the home team.
