Partizan president Ostoja Mijailovic confirmed that the black-and-whites are one of 11 teams to reach the final phase of becoming a EuroLeague franchise.
The EuroLeague recently released a comprehensive report stating that 11 clubs passed the first step in the process of securing franchise status, with Partizan among them. The next step involves submitting binding offers with a total value of nearly €700 million, while estimates suggest total investments over the next five years could exceed €3 billion.
“At today’s EuroLeague board meeting, Partizan was selected as one of 11 teams to enter the final process of becoming a franchise”, Ostoja Mijailovic posted on X.

Final vote timeline
Before the process officially opened in early July, the EuroLeague received more than 20 formal expressions of interest and proposals from existing top-tier clubs, EuroCup teams, and new investment projects looking to join a new era in European basketball.
Mijailovic confirmed in his post that the final decision on franchise status will be made by the end of September. At that time, a final vote is expected regarding the transition to the new model, as well as the number and names of the clubs included in the first phase of expansion for the 2027/28 season.
“The final decision will be made at the end of September, when the Board of Owners will vote on which clubs will become franchises starting from the 2027/28 season. The job isn’t done yet, but we are on the right track”, wrote the Partizan president.
Ten more teams advanced the first phase
According to Mozzartsport, alongside Partizan, the other clubs to advance past the first phase are Crvena Zvezda, Dubai, Valencia, Maxima Roma, PAOK, Hapoel Tel Aviv, Napoli, London Lions, Paris, and Virtus. The EuroLeague previously noted that four additional bids remain on hold, with further details expected soon.
