The Phoenix Fuelmasters were one of the most pleasant surprises of the early stages of the Governors´ Cup with their flawless 3-0 W-L slate, but in their final game, they finally tasted defeat as they went down at the hands of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. If we take a deeper look at their initial three victories, we can notice that something is off with all due respect to the Fuelmasters. In their opener, they beat a completely unprepared Magnolia side after being down by double-digits, while against the Meralco Bolts, they were facing a heavily shorthanded side that was importless and barely won by a single point. The victory over Ginebra came at the expense of the fact that the Gin Kings were completely out of form and with some absences. Even the Elasto Painters were shorthanded, but still routinely outpowered the Fuelmasters by seven points (105:98) with their superior quality, rotation and the tactical mastery of head coach Yeng Guiao. Today´s clash against Blackwater seems like a solid chance to get back into the win column for Phoenix, but they will be facing a resurrected Bossing squad that is making waves in this conference despite their 30-point loss to Ginebra four days ago. On paper, Phoenix hold the upper hand over Blackwater, but this matchup will be very unpleasant for them because the main stars of the Bossing, Kentrell Barkley and Sedrick Barefield, are in tremendous form.
It will be interesting to see the odds for this match. We would give a slight advantage to the Fuelmasters, but the Bossing have all the tools required to mount a comeback win today after getting destroyed by Ginebra.

This Tuesday, they have a chance to make amends and prove everyone wrong with another victory, but it will be very difficult. Meralco beat them by just two points in an incredible match with huge point swings, while in their last game, they got utterly annihilated by the powerhouse squad of Ginebra. The Bossing desperately need a victory today to stop the bleeding and to keep their form alive. We have a feeling they will need to grind out a victory in a very close and tight contest because the Fuelmasters are a more stable and better team compared to their roster. With names like Ilagan, Barefield and Barkley, the Bossing have the potential to make life miserable for any team, but throughout their entire and very long conference schedule, we think they do not have enough to make the playoffs. It will be intriguing, but in the end, the Bossing should be fighting for the final and fourth playoff position.
As we already stated in our previous previews, the long grind of the Governors´ Cup should get the better of Blackwater. They started off more than well, but with their recent two losses, they are in a downfall and will have to work extra hard to take down the Fuelmasters this Tuesday.
