There were many blowouts in Round 7 of the Eurocup, with Cedevita Olimpija, Turk Telekom and the London Lions all recording convincing wins in their matchups, along with Buducnost winning less comfortably against Chemnitz.
Cedevita Olimpija cruised to an easy win against Venezia, winning 93-65 thanks to a dominant second half performance and a solid distribution of points, with 6 players ending in double figures. Umoja Gibson led the way with 15 points, joined by Thomas Kennedy who had 14. Zvezdan Mitrovic’s side also grabbed an astonishing 50 rebounds compared to Venezia’s 28, as Neven Spahija’s team was simply not up to the task in this one in any way.
Turk Telekom controlled the entire tempo of the game and coasted to a dominant win over Lietkabelis, dropping 100 points in the process. Doguz Ozdemiroglu and Jordan Usher both led the way with 19 points each, with the rest of Erdem Can’s men contributing to a fantastic 29-41 shooting performance for two, along with hitting 10 three pointers. Lietkabelis had a poor shooting night in general, with only Augustine Rubit scoring 20 points, as Nenad Canak’s team falls to the bottom of their group with a 1-6 record.
The London Lions convincingly defended their home court with a much needed win over Panionios, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that it was a dominant one. Joel Scott had 20 points and Amin Adamu followed him by adding 13 more. The Greek representative suffered its 12th consecutive loss across all competitions, and they are looking to the game against struggling Lietkabelis in Round 9 as an opportunity to kickstart the turnaround of their season.
Finally, Buducnost had a little bit more difficulty defeating Chemnitz, but managed to get the job done, winning 84-71. Axel Boutielle led all scorers with an excellent 26 points, shooting 10-14 from the field, with Juwan Morgan trailing him through a 19-point night. Chemnity only had Kevin Yebo to count on, who scored 20. Andrej Zakelj’s men improve their record in the competition to 5-2, witht his being fourth straight win in the Eurocup. They will look to make it five in a row when they face Ulm in the next round.
