Sasa Obradovic, following his team’s convincing victory over Buducnost, also summarized his impressions from the match during the media briefing.
Crvena Zvezda defeated Buducnost 95:79. After the game, Sasa Obradovic said:
“We took advantage of Yogi Ferrell’s and Thompson’s weaknesses. We came in a bit looser than we should have. Maybe it’s normal after all those games to have a slightly different approach. Especially in the second half, from good defense and offensive rebounds, we created opportunities for ourselves to take some open shots, which made our path to victory easier,” Sasa Obradovic said.
Asked whether Crvena Zvezda will extend Donatas Motiejunas’ contract, he replied:
“I don’t think that’s really a topic right now. If we were to talk about Motiejunas, then we would need to talk about everyone else on the team as well and open those questions. Better to wait. He knows how much I like him and how much he means to this team. That’s the most important thing. We’ll make decisions as we go.”
First and second halves were completely different stories.
“There was a slightly different approach to the game. We came in with more physicality, although I think it should have been like that from the start. Every game and every point is very important. Maybe some people know, and maybe some don’t, why we took the timeout. First game, direct opponent for a high ranking. That’s a basketball thing that doesn’t need explaining.”
On Jared Butler’s absence:
“He played these two games, and definitely needs a bit more to get into full ‘game shape,’ but we decided that with a demanding schedule, traveling, and everything else, it was better to rest him. He is available and will be in the team for the next games.”
Looking ahead to the Dubai game in the EuroLeague:
“I won’t say much about Dubai. I haven’t done scouting or analysis. We all know that any away game is very valuable. I think many teams will struggle there. Not just because of Dubai’s quality—they were built to be a playoff team—but also because of the travel, which makes it tough energy-wise. The games prove that. Full focus on that game. We’re going there to win.”
