Maccabi Tel Aviv has made a significant addition to its frontcourt by signing American-Israeli forward T.J. Leaf to a three-year contract.
Leaf brings a blend of NBA experience and European pedigree to the Israeli powerhouse. A former first-round pick in the 2017 NBA Draft (18th overall by the Indiana Pacers), Leaf played four seasons in the NBA with the Pacers and the Portland Trail Blazers, averaging 3.3 points and 2.0 rebounds over 146 career games.
After his NBA stint, Leaf transitioned to the European stage, most recently playing for Guangzhou Loong Lions in the Chinese CBA. His move to Maccabi Tel Aviv marks his return to Israeli basketball, where he is expected to play a key role under head coach Oded Kattash.
Born in Israel and raised in California, Leaf holds dual citizenship, which will allow him to be registered as a local player in the Israeli league a valuable asset under domestic roster rules.
His offensive versatility, high basketball IQ, and rebounding ability should provide immediate impact for Maccabi, both in the Israeli Premier League and the EuroLeague.
With this signing, Maccabi continues to solidify its frontcourt rotation following the departures and additions that reshaped the roster this summer.
Leaf is expected to bring depth, experience, and floor spacing to a team that consistently competes at the highest level of European basketball.
