Tamir Blatt has officially joined Hapoel Tel Aviv after leaving Maccabi Tel Aviv, signing a three-year contract that will keep him with the club until the end of the 2028/29 season.
Tamir Blatt returns to Hapoel Tel Aviv for his second stint with the club after beginning his Israeli top-flight career in the team’s jersey. The 29-year-old guard arrives from Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he spent the previous three seasons and established himself as one of the most experienced Israeli playmakers in the EuroLeague.
During the 2025/26 EuroLeague season, Blatt averaged 6.8 points, 4.6 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game, while shooting 36.5% from three-point range and 46.7% from two-point territory.
The move represents another major EuroLeague transaction for Hapoel Tel Aviv, who continue to build an ambitious roster ahead of the upcoming season.
Tamir Blatt career journey and EuroLeague experience
Tamir Blatt began his professional career with Hapoel Tel Aviv, while also playing for A.S. Ramat HaSharon through a dual registration arrangement. After his first spell with Hapoel, he moved to Hapoel Holon before joining Hapoel Jerusalem, where he spent three seasons.
The Israeli point guard then made his first move abroad, signing with German powerhouse Alba Berlin. During his time in Berlin, Blatt won the Bundesliga and the German Cup before returning to Israel in the summer of 2023 to join Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Throughout his career, Blatt has collected multiple domestic trophies, including two Israeli Premier League championships and five State Cups. His experience at both domestic and European level made him one of the most sought-after Israeli guards on the market.
Hapoel Tel Aviv and Maccabi Tel Aviv reshape backcourts with Israeli playmakers
Blatt’s move to Hapoel comes shortly after Maccabi Tel Aviv strengthened its backcourt by signing another Israeli point guard from the red side of Tel Aviv.
Earlier in the offseason, Maccabi Tel Aviv completed the signing of Yam Madar from Hapoel Tel Aviv, adding a new Israeli playmaker to its roster.
Now, Blatt has moved in the opposite direction, leaving Maccabi for Hapoel and creating an unusual situation between the two biggest clubs in Israeli basketball.
Although the two deals were not part of an official “trade”, both teams have effectively changed their point guard situations by bringing in a key player from their city rivals.
