Tarik Biberovic has gone from a Fenerbahce prospect to an NBA-bound player after eight seasons in Istanbul, with his rise built on years of hard work, dedication and patience. The EuroLeague champion joined Fenerbahce in 2018 as a 17-year-old prospect and slowly developed into one of Europe’s most reliable shooters.
During his time in Istanbul, Tarik Biberovic became one of Fenerbahce’s most important players, helping the club win the EuroLeague title and establishing himself as a key contributor on a championship roster. His NBA opportunity is the result of relentless work behind the scenes.

Marko Guduric reveals the work behind Biberovic’s rise
Former Fenerbahce teammate Marko Guduric recently explained how much effort Biberovic invested throughout his development and why his NBA opportunity is the result of years of sacrifice.
Guduric, who spent several seasons alongside Biberovic at Fenerbahce, highlighted the incredible work ethic that separated the Turkish forward from others.
“Sarunas Jasikevicius was most often calling timeouts for Tarik (Biberovic). I am extremely happy for him. We came to Fenerbahce together, from his first days when he was 16 years old I was with him and watched how he worked and what kind of person he was. He was constantly in the gym.
That type of work ethic, the number of shots he made, we trained, I worked as well, but what Tarik Biberovic was doing was unreal. At one point he was not playing, he was much younger, they were kicking him out of the gym. The coaches forbade him from coming, locked the doors and did not let him enter.
Under Aleksandar Djordjevic, he started getting opportunities and played well, under Dimitris Itoudis he received a bigger role, and then he crowned everything this season.
I am very happy that I was there, we are very close, we have a great relationship. It is beautiful when you see someone get rewarded for everything they have done, and very few people saw the work that was happening behind the scenes. Many players can confirm that.”
Biberovic became a Fenerbahce success story
After arriving in Istanbul as a teenager, Biberovic slowly built his place within one of Europe’s biggest basketball organizations. During his time with Fenerbahce, he won 11 trophies, including the EuroLeague championship in the 2024-25 season.
His trophy cabinet with the Turkish powerhouse includes:
1 EuroLeague title
4 Turkish Super League championships
5 Turkish Cups
1 Turkish Super Cup
Tarik Biberovic takes the next step with Dallas Mavericks
The move also adds Biberovic to the list of notable EuroLeague transactions involving players making the transition to the NBA. He was originally selected by the Memphis Grizzlies with the 56th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, but decided to continue his journey with Fenerbahce after winning the EuroLeague title.
This summer, the Dallas Mavericks acquired his NBA rights from Memphis in a trade, opening the door for Biberovic to finally make the move to the league.
The 25-year-old forward will now join Dallas with the opportunity to showcase his elite shooting ability and prove himself on the biggest basketball stage in the world.
From a teenager searching for his chance in Istanbul to a EuroLeague champion earning an NBA opportunity, Biberovic’s journey represents one of the most impressive development stories in European basketball.
