The era of Ergin Ataman at Panathinaikos has come to an end, as the Turkish coach will no longer lead the Greek powerhouse following a highly disappointing season.
A crucial meeting between Ergin Ataman and Panathinaikos had been announced earlier today, and the Athens club later took to social media to thank the coach for everything he had done since taking charge in 2023.
Experienced coach finished the season without winning a single trophy. Panathinaikos were eliminated by Valencia in the EuroLeague semifinals, while they also fell to Olympiacos in the Greek League Finals, making it clear that his position at the club was under serious threat.
Following today’s meeting, it was decided that Ergin Ataman would no longer serve as Panathinaikos head coach. During his three-year tenure, he led the club to one Greek League title, two Greek Cups, and one EuroLeague championship.
