Toronto Raptors vs Detroit Pistons Preview
Defeats to the Houston Rockets and the New Orleans Pelicans complicated the Toronto Raptors’ race for a top 6 finish and direct qualification to the NBA playoffs, but the right response came on Friday night. Darko Rajakovic’s team hosted the Phoenix Suns and won by 122-115. They improved to 37-29 and will do everything they can to secure a postseason appearance. Even if that does not happen, the only Canadian franchise in the NBA has already exceeded all preseason expectations, but it would be a huge shame if they failed to capitalize on it by reaching the playoffs. From the very beginning they have mostly been among the top six teams in the Eastern Conference and they definitely deserve to remain there.
Brandon Ingram led the way with 36 points in the win against the Suns and carried the Raptors on his back to a very important victory. Ingram is the true leader of this team and stepped up when it was needed most. RJ Barrett also had an excellent game with 22 points, while Immanuel Quickley and Jakob Poeltl provided their usual contributions. Scottie Barnes was somewhat underwhelming in terms of scoring, but he also took only 12 shots, which is below his usual average. The Raptors shot over 50% from three-point range as a team, but they also carefully selected their shots and did not force anything. That will certainly be the recipe for success in the upcoming games, starting with this one scheduled for Sunday night.
The Detroit Pistons lost four consecutive games at the beginning of March, which was their worst stretch of the entire season. Many began to question whether a decline would follow and whether they might lose first place in the Eastern Conference late in the regular season, but they responded in the right way. They recorded three straight victories against the Brooklyn Nets, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Memphis Grizzlies and maintained the top spot in the East with a 48-18 record. They have five fewer losses than the Boston Celtics and absolutely control their own destiny. Defensively, only the Oklahoma City Thunder have better numbers in the entire league than the Pistons, while J.B. Bickerstaff’s team also ranks in the top 10 offensively.
Jalen Duren had 30 points and 13 rebounds in the win over the Grizzlies and his development has truly been enormous. He will likely receive the Most Improved Player award. Duren has grown into a dominant center at the NBA level and forms a true superstar duo with Cade Cunningham, who has been among the five best players in the league this season. At one point Cunningham was even mentioned as a potential MVP candidate, but that award will almost certainly go to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for the second consecutive year. Duncan Robinson and Tobias Harris provide valuable experience for the Pistons, and Kevin Huerter recently joined the team, bringing the three-point shooting off the bench that had often been missing.

Toronto Raptors vs Detroit Pistons Best Betting Tip and Prediction
This matchup features the seventh and second-best defenses in the NBA, and both teams will likely try to win through physical and defensive intensity. It would not be surprising if the losing team fails to reach 100 points, so our prediction is that the total will stay below the offered line in the clash between the Toronto Raptors and Detroit Pistons.
