Trabzonspor vs Bursaspor – Preview & Prediction (Oct. 11, 2025)

After earning promotion to the Turkish Super League this season, Trabzonspor has shown in the first two rounds that they will not be an easy opponent. They have won both of their opening games and are currently among the teams with a perfect 2–0 record. In the first round, they convincingly defeated Buyukcekmece at home, and in the second, they pulled off an impressive away win against Esenler Erokspor, a team that entered the season with high ambitions—making that victory even more significant.

Some roster changes were inevitable compared to the squad that secured promotion, but without a doubt, the biggest addition is Marquise Reed, who arrived from Tofas. Last season, Reed was the league’s top scorer and the player with the highest efficiency rating, and he has continued that strong form into the new campaign. However, Trabzonspor has also demonstrated defensive strength, particularly with their ability to force turnovers. Collecting 21 steals across their first two games shows just how much pressure they put on opposing offenses, often turning those situations into easy transition points.

Bursaspor, on the other hand, finished ninth in the regular season last year but failed to reach the playoffs through the play-in. So far this season, they have already played six games, having started early with the FIBA Champions League qualifiers, where they won three times and secured a place in the main stage of the competition. Since then, however, they have suffered three consecutive losses — two in the Turkish Super League (against Merkezefendi and Anadolu Efes) and one in the FIBA Champions League against Hapoel Holon.

It remains to be seen whether the decision to participate in international competition was a wise one, as the additional travel and schedule may take a toll on their domestic form. Another issue is the significant roster turnover, which has left little time for chemistry to develop. The main problem for Bursaspor so far has been their inefficient offense and inability to create easy scoring opportunities. They have scored more than 81 points only once this season and are averaging under 70 points per game in the Turkish Super League –  a number that must improve dramatically if they want to compete more effectively.

Despite being a newcomer to the Turkish Super League, Trabzonspor has shown notable qualities so far this season – particularly on the defensive end. When you add to that Bursaspor’s offensive struggles and their difficulties in creating scoring opportunities, we expect this game to feature fewer points than the projected margin.
