Tyler Dorsey on his Olympiacos future
Dorsey confirmed that there has been no significant progress in negotiations with Olympiacos, while stressing that he has already expressed his desire to stay.
“My goal is never to do something for those reasons. Every year I do the same things, every year I play the same way. As of right now, we are not close to an agreement at all. I told them that I want to stay here since the season started.”
“That is beyond what I can control. We are where we are. As far as my future, we’ll see what happens. My goal is simply to start the season the best way possible and do what I do. I’m not changing my approach in terms of certain things. My mentality is the same.”
Thomas Walkup’s situation
Dorsey also addressed the situation surrounding Thomas Walkup, whose future with Olympiacos remains uncertain amid the ongoing legal dispute between the player and the club. The two have shared a strong connection since joining Olympiacos around the same time.
“Obviously I’m going to miss Walkup. We came here together that first year a long time ago. Obviously I’m going to miss him, the connection that we had and everything he brought to the team.
“Obviously now we’re a new team, a new situation and a different style of players. We’ll have to adjust and find our chemistry. The sky’s the limit for us.”
Dorsey says Greece games kept him in rhythm
Dorsey also explained how his time with the Greek national team helped him maintain his rhythm ahead of the new club season.
“They keep me in shape. Sometimes some guys start the season a little slower. This helps me be in rhythm.”
He also emphasized the importance of playing games rather than relying solely on training during the early stages of the season.
“We need games, especially us being a new team. It’s good to have these games before the schedule gets crazy and we have to play on the road as well, and it will be difficult to win. We have a tough start.”
The Olympiacos guard also dismissed the idea that starting the season as the reigning EuroLeague champion creates additional pressure.
“I don’t feel any difference, I feel the same. People forget what happened last year, now we have to deal with the new season. We played the first game and hopefully we can build positively on that and become better.”
