The agent of Xavi Pascual, Vadim Mikhalevskiy, commented on the status of his client to Basketball Sphere.
A lot of attention has recently surrounded Xavi Pascual. Without a doubt one of the best coaches in Europe, he suddenly became, according to Spanish media reports, a target for Dubai.
There were even reports claiming that the Catalan club was preparing a replacement for him, before the two-time European champion denied those rumors. Barcelona made it clear that they are not planning anyone else for the bench, but rather the man with whom they won their last EuroLeague title back in 2010.
Following all those stories, Basketball Sphere contacted Xavi Pascual’s agent, Vadim Mikhalevskiy, who had a brief comment on the matter.
“At this moment, I can say that he’s under an active contract with Barcelona,” Mikhalevskiy emphasized.
Basketball Sphere had previously reported that Xavi Pascual’s move to Dubai was not considered very realistic because of the Catalans’ long-term project for the coming seasons. Xavi Pascual is reportedly the central figure in Barcelona’s plans, with the club expected to become financially stronger from the fall. As Basketball Sphere had already written, it appears more likely that the Middle Eastern club could turn toward former Real Madrid coaches Pablo Laso or Chus Mateo.
