Vasilije Micic has officially signed with Israeli side Hapoel Tel Aviv, putting an end to all the speculation that surrounded his future this summer.
Just 24 hours ago, Basketball Sphere reports surfaced that Real Madrid had entered the race with a serious offer—€8.5 million over two years.
This was confirmed by reputable sources such as Marca and the Greek outlet Eurohoops, but the situation took a dramatic turn within a day.
According to Aris Barkas, one of the factors that held up the potential transfer to Spain was the high tax rate, which reportedly gave the Serbian point guard pause. That won’t be an issue with the EuroLeague newcomers.
In the end, Micic signed a three-year contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv, a deal that is expected to make him one of the highest-paid players in EuroLeague history.
While previous media reports mentioned a possible €18 million agreement over three years, no official confirmation of those figures has been released yet.
