Besiktas led by Dusan Alimpijevic claimed a 101–83 victory against Panionios, continuing their fantastic run this season — and the fans made sure to show their appreciation.
Throughout the game against Panionios in the EuroCup, the Besiktas arena echoed with chants: “Dusan, Dusan, Dusan”.
They were cheering for the Serbian coach who has guided the Istanbul Eagles to an impressive 16–2 record this season across all competitions.
“People called me from Serbia. They told me I am doing something big when, in a foreign country, the fans are shouting my name. I am extremely proud of the love and connection I have with the supporters. I am sure my name will remain here in this club and people will remember only the good things. I leave all my passion and emotions to Besiktas and I am trying to build something great. This is amazing,” said Dusan Alimpijevic.

It is worth noting that he took over Besiktas when they were on the verge of relegation from the Turkish top tier, and in a short time elevated them into the fight for the highest goals — both in Turkey and in Europe.
“The fans are amazing. I have said it many times, I also said it in some interviews in Serbia, I am lucky to be in a club with such a huge fan base. I believe that coming and being present at basketball games has also become a kind of prestige in our community. Everyone wants to come to Besiktas games. So, it is great. It is really great. I am always thankful and happy to be a part of this,” he added.
He also spoke about potential reinforcements.
“Are you unhappy with our results so far when you keep insisting about signing more players? We are working quietly, all together, the way things should be done in all serious clubs. We know our goals. We have ups and downs, which is normal in sports. I talk with the president and the general manager, and we will make the decision together,” concluded Dusan Alimpijevic.
