The Los Angeles Lakers advanced to the Western Conference semifinals after defeating the Houston Rockets 98-78 in Game 6, closing the series 4-2.
The Rockets were once again shorthanded without Kevin Durant, while the Lakers played without Luka Doncic.
NBA Playoffs record highest viewership in the last 33 years
Simply put, without Kevin Durant and his reliable 25-30 points, along with his overall presence on the floor, they had no chance. The pressure clearly got to them, their hands were tight, they were sweating like never before, and it was hard to tell who felt it the most. Probably Reed Sheppard first, then Amen Thompson, and even Alperen Sengun.
The Lakers did not play anything spectacular offensively, but their defense was outstanding. LeBron James was dominant on offense, scoring 18 points in the first half alone. The King wanted to close this out and avoid the series going back to Los Angeles, and it was already clear by halftime that the job was done.
Rui Hachimura was also excellent, the rest were solid, and that was more than enough for the already mentioned +18 at the break.

On the other side, Amen Thompson stood out with 18 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. Alperen Sengun recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
In the Western Conference semifinals, the Lakers will face the Oklahoma City Thunder, with Game 1 scheduled for May 6.
