Valencia was defeated at home by Panathinaikos 105–107 after overtime in Game 2 of their EuroLeague playoff series.
Ahead of this game, the Athens powerhouse led 1–0 in the series, having managed to defeat Valencia on Tuesday in a close finish and secure a road win.
For this matchup, Valencia could not count on Xavi Lopez-Arostegui and Yankuba Sima. On the other hand, in Ergin Ataman’s team, Kostas Sloukas, Panagiotis Kalaitzakis, and Alexandros Samodurov were not included in the squad for this game.
That the second game of this semifinal series would also be closely contested became clear already after the first 10 minutes, when the score was completely level. Valencia, led by Jean Montero, opened the game very well, but Panathinaikos responded strongly.
Although both teams struggled from three-point range, they managed to score in easier situations inside the paint. An absolutely fantastic first half was played by Panathinaikos forward Nigel Hayes-Davis, who scored 16 points in the first two quarters. Still, the home team found a way to respond through Sergio De Larrea, and the teams went into halftime with the visitors holding a narrow lead (48–49).

By the end of the third quarter, the visitors went on a 9–0 run, with two three-pointers from Juancho Hernangomez, and entered the final 10 minutes of the game with a 3-point lead.

The visitors showed no intention of slowing down; at the start of the final quarter, they continued their run, now extended to 15–0, fueled by incredible three-point shooting. Both teams found their rhythm in the final minutes, and three-pointers were falling back and forth like on an assembly line.
The game headed into a dramatic finish, with Panathinaikos and Kendrick Nunn once again having a shot to win it, but this time the game went into overtime.
There was tremendous pressure on both teams in overtime, as shown by the fact that neither side scored for nearly two minutes. However, in the final two minutes, baskets were traded on both ends. Panathinaikos stayed more composed at the crucial moment, and Nigel Hayes-Davis hit the game-winning shot in the final seconds of overtime to secure the victory for the visitors.
