Detroit Pistons and reigning champions Oklahoma City Thunder both opened their respective Conference Semifinal series with 1–0 leads in the NBA playoffs.
After surviving a grueling seven-game battle against the Orlando Magic, Detroit Pistons carried that momentum into their clash with the Cleveland Cavaliers. They secured a 111–101 win, taking an early step toward the Eastern Conference Finals.
There was little doubt about the outcome throughout the game. Playing on home court, Detroit Pistons controlled the tempo from the opening minutes and never allowed the visitors to disrupt their rhythm. Cade Cunningham led the way with 23 points, while Tobias Harris added 20. On the other side, Donovan Mitchell also scored 23, but it wasn’t enough to keep Cleveland Cavaliers in contention.
More attention was drawn to the Western Conference matchup, where the Oklahoma City Thunder hosted the Los Angeles Lakers. However, that contest also lacked drama, as Oklahoma City cruised to a convincing 108–90 win.
The defending champions imposed their pace early and steadily pulled away, underlining the gap in quality—especially with the Lakers missing Luka Doncic. Chet Holmgren delivered a dominant performance with 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Ajay Mitchell contributed 18 points each.
Despite a 27-point effort from LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers were unable to mount a serious challenge.
