Zenit earned a hard-fought road victory over Igokea in the VTB Basket Cup group stage, coming out on top 83–80 after a dramatic finish inside a packed arena in Laktasi.
The matchup in Bosnia and Herzegovina marked the return of the VTB Basket Cup following the national team break. Igokea struck first, riding the hot hand of Tyree Breein to take control early on. Zenit responded in the second quarter, with Luka Samanic helping the visitors build momentum, but Igokea quickly regained rhythm and protected a narrow 43–41 lead at halftime.
Neither team managed to fully seize control in the second half. The lead continued to shift, and the game headed into the closing minute completely up for grabs.
With every possession suddenly magnified, Trent Frazier stepped up when it mattered most. With the score tied in the final seconds, the guard created separation on the perimeter and calmly knocked down a step-back three with just three seconds remaining — the dagger that sealed Zenit’s win. Igokea had no time left to answer.
Noah Vonleh made his debut for Zenit and immediately proved valuable. Despite a few inevitable mistakes, the former NBA forward showed why he was brought in, finishing with 14 points and becoming one of the key contributors in the victory.
This was the first official meeting between Igokea and Zenit. It was just the third VTB Basket Cup game ever played outside of Russia — and the first of those three to be decided in regulation. The previous two matchups in Belgrade and Laktasi both went to overtime.
