Will Clyburn has generally been playing well this season, but he seems especially inspired every time he steps onto the floor of the Belgrade Arena.
Against Partizan in late October, he wasn’t the best player on the court — but he took the most important and craziest shot of the game, drilling a near half-court dagger to silence the Black-and-Whites.
And against Crvena Zvezda, he kept shredding the net. He knocked down four three-pointers (many heavily contested), scored 22 points, and together with Dario Brizuela and Kevin Punter, played one of the key roles in another Barcelona victory in Serbia’s capital — their seventh straight road win over Zvezda.

“I am happy about the win. It is never easy in this kind of atmosphere, but we stayed together and that is what you need to win in a place like this,” Will Clyburn told.
He continued hitting crazy shots in the Arena — including a banked floater and a wild runner in transition that somehow found its way in.
“When you are younger, you always practice those crazy last-second shots. Sometimes the ball goes in, sometimes it doesn’t — today it went in,” he said.
Speaking about the game, the experienced forward emphasized that Barcelona never doubted their approach — and that made the difference.
“We stayed the course, we didn’t lose belief in the plan. We know they are a good team, but the most important thing is to stick to our way,” Clyburn added.
Despite the victory, he had nothing but praise for the EuroLeague rival.
“They are very talented, a lot of guys who can score the ball. I can’t judge them from just one loss, they have been playing great all season and I believe they will continue like that,” he stated.
He had a real one-on-one battle with Jordan Nwora — at times it felt like the two were alone in the arena.
“Nothing personal, I respect him a lot as a player, and I believe he feels the same. When you play against a scorer like Jordan, you have to play both sides of the floor,” Clyburn explained.
Crvena Zvezda fans gave former Partizan captain Kevin Punter a “special” reception.
“It was funny how they welcomed him, I had a good laugh. I enjoyed the chants from the stands…” Clyburn said with a smile, before adding:
“He always wants to win. That’s the only thing that matters in the end. Maybe he had a little extra motivation, but he simply came here to win.”
Barcelona recently changed head coaches and things look promising under Xavi Pascual so far.
“No matter who the coach is, the players have to play. The coaching staff brings the best out of us and keeps us accountable,” Will Clyburn concluded in his interview with Meridian Sport.
