Yam Madar, the Israeli guard, has left Hapoel Tel Aviv after two years by activating a release clause in his contract, the club has officially confirmed.
According to Noa Poplinger of “Sport5”, Yam Madar triggered the buyout clause and paid $300,000.
The Israeli guard has not yet chosen his next destination, while Hapoel Jerusalem and Maccabi Tel Aviv are among the teams reportedly interested in signing him.
The former Partizan player had been linked with a departure for some time and was also reportedly receiving offers from the NCAA, with his next career move still to be determined.
In last season’s EuroLeague, he averaged 3.1 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists across 16 appearances.
“Hapoel Tel Aviv confirms that Yam Madar has informed the club of his decision to exercise the exit clause in his contract. Over the recent period, the club worked to reach an agreement with Yam and secure his continuation with Hapoel for five additional seasons.
As part of those efforts, Madar was presented with an unprecedented financial offer for an Israeli player, and one that was highly unusual even by European standards, reflecting the club’s great appreciation for him and its clear desire to keep him. The offer was significantly higher than any other offer the player currently holds.
In addition, a meeting took place between Yam and the team’s head coach, during which the two discussed the professional plans for the upcoming season and Yam’s role within the team’s structure.
The meeting was held in a positive atmosphere, with both sides leaving satisfied. Yam received a clear picture that he was intended to play a very central and significant role in the team next season, with the player receiving the status planned for him.
