Zeljko Obradovic has officially become the new head coach of Panathinaikos, as confirmed by Dimitris Giannakopoulos on social media.
Zeljko Obradovic returns to Athens after the Panathinaikos owner shared a photo with the legendary Serbian coach. The two sides have signed a three-year contract.
The club also posted the image on its official social media accounts alongside the message: “The story continues. The King is back.”
The decorated Serbian coach led Panathinaikos from 1999 to 2012, winning five EuroLeague titles during his tenure and establishing one of the most successful dynasties in European basketball.
Obradovic has been without a team since the middle of last season, when he resigned from Partizan following a loss to Panathinaikos in Athens.
For days, Greek media had been reporting on the possibility of Zeljko Obradovic’s return to Athens, and now the wait has finally come to an end.
A contract has been signed through the end of the 2028-29 season, with the goal of chasing Obradovic’s 10th EuroLeague title and Panathinaikos’ eighth European crown during that span.
