Zeljko Obradovic is negotiating a return to the bench of Panathinaikos after 14 years away from the Athens giant, and one of his wishes was Zoran Savic.
Former Partizan general manager Zoran Savic, who left the black-and-whites at the end of 2025 at the same time as Zeljko Obradovic, had the chance to reunite with the most decorated European coach, but he turned it down, according to Vasiliki Karamouza of “Sport 24”.
The legendary former Serbian center reportedly does not want to work for any club in Greece other than PAOK.
“He said he would not like to work for another club in Greece because of the good relationship he has with the black-and-whites from Thessaloniki. This is additional information I received in the last 24 hours from Serbia”, Karamouza stated.
At the same time, she reported that a meeting was held between Dimitris Giannakopoulos and Obradovic, but no final agreement was reached and negotiations are ongoing, with everything expected to be completed very soon. A few remaining details still need to be agreed upon by both sides.
Zoran Savic was also recently mentioned as a target of Paul Matiasic, the owner of Trieste who wants to turn the club into Roma. The owner reportedly plans to appoint the former basketball player as general manager, with Ettore Messina as head coach.
