Former player JJ Reddick will become the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, according to reliable Adrian Wojnarowski and ESPN.
Reddick was one of the main candidates to sit on the bench of the famous team, although at one point UConn coach Dan Hurley was close.
However, Hurley turned down an invitation from the Los Angeles Lakers and Reddick turned out to be their solution after that.
It is clear that the former great shooter is very inexperienced, which is why he will be surrounded by a somewhat more experienced coaching staff at the beginning, as reported by ESPN.
The same source states that a four-year contract has been signed, which indicates that the Los Angeles Lakers want to keep Reddick in the long run.
Reddick had a remarkable playing career. He is considered one of the best shooters in the last 20 years, and he left his biggest mark in Los Angeles, but in the Clippers, where he was the most consistent. He was most effective in the 2018/19 season, when he scored 18 points per game in the shirt of the Philadelphia 76ers. He also played for Orlando Magic, Milwaukee Bucks, New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks.
After that, he became an analyst and it seems that all this helped him get a new position – the head coach in the NBA.
