One of the best sixth players in the league, Malik Monk, signed a new contract with the Sacramento Kings in the NBA, according to ESPN.
Monk played brilliantly last season and positioned himself as one of the best scorers off the bench, finally finding the right form after a few seasons of wandering.
The Sacramento Kings knew all that, and offered him a four-year contract worth 78 million dollars, which Monk reluctantly accepted.
He had a real renaissance in California, as led the league in points and assists off the bench last season and became just the second player in the last 25 years to reach 1,000 points and 300 assists, all as a reserve.
Monk had as many as nine games in which he scored at least 25 points off the bench, the most since Eddie Johnson from the Sacramento Kings in the late 80s.
Last season, Monk averaged a career-high 15.4 points and 5.1 assists. However, he missed the last nine games of the regular season and the play in due to an injury sustained on March 29.
He was selected in the 2017 draft as the 11th pick, then spent four seasons with the Charlotte Hornets, one with the Los Angeles Lakers, until he found the right team.
