The Bulgarian player did not have much success in his first season overseas. Limited playing time marked the year for the former EuroLeague MVP. He revealed to “SPORT24″ the difficulties he faced.
“In terms of travel, my first NBA season was crazy. You go from one hotel to another, then to the arena and the training center. Then you play against one team and have to read the scouting report. Then you play and travel again. It’s hard to remember all of it,” Sasha Vezenkov began.
Then he spoke about a conflict with the strength and conditioning coach:
“I asked him why I was playing 15 minutes. He replied: ‘Because I told you so, and the coach says so.’ Whether you play or not, you have to find balance, you have to understand how things work. If you are in the NBA, everything is very specific and has been for years. Here in Europe, we want to improve those things. I love this game. That’s why I’m paid, we all want to play more. Every player wants something. Athletes are difficult. Even if you play 40 minutes, you’ll complain to the coach.”
It remains to be seen whether the Bulgarian will remain in the NBA or will he return to Europe next year.
