Gordon Herbert spoke after the final game of Group K in the FIBA World Cup, in which Germany dominated Slovenia.
Germany had a rough start to the game but managed a significant comeback for a convincing victory. In his opening statement at the press conference, Gordon Herbert analyzed the game.
“I think we played great in the last 30 minutes. We improved in the second quarter when our bench players came in. After that, our starters returned and continued to play exceptionally well, especially in the third quarter. Bonga did an excellent job defending Dončić. It’s a significant win for us, and we’re moving forward.”
Herbert addressed the conflict with Dennis Schroder during the game and the situation with Franz Wagner.
“I think Daniel Theis and Dennis Schroder were reminiscing about their young days in Braunschweig. We’ll see on Tuesday what the situation is with Franz Wagner. He’s practicing, looks good, but you never know when it comes to injuries,” Herbert concluded.
Germany advances to the next phase with a perfect record of five wins.
