Cedevita Olimpija secured their fourth win of the season in the ABA League, defeating Borac Cacak 82:78 in the sixth round.
Ljubljana’s team started the game strongly, taking an early 4-0 lead. However, Borac Cacak improved their performance and managed to make a comeback. At one point, the home team had a nine-point lead. They strung together six consecutive points, reducing the deficit to 23:20. Nevertheless, by the end of the first ten minutes, the visitors maintained a five-point advantage.
In the second quarter, Cedevita Olimpija displayed much better energy. The home team managed to stage a comeback at the beginning of this period. By the end of the first half, Ljubljana’s team held onto their lead and went into halftime with a six-point advantage.
During the remainder of the match, Borac Cacak posed a constant threat and attempted a comeback. At one point, they closed the gap to a two-point deficit. Cedevita Olimpija managed to fend off Borac’s surge. After the third quarter, Ljubljana’s team was leading 65:56.
Borac didn’t give up and consistently tried to make a comeback and bring the match to an uncertain conclusion. Several times, the visitors closed the gap to five points, even had opportunities to get even closer, but they couldn’t capitalize on them. In the final moments of the game, the home team successfully sealed the victory.
Karlo Matkovic and D.J. Stewart led their team to victory with 18 points each, while on the other side, Javon Franklin had 17 points.
Cedevita Olimpija now holds a record of four wins and two losses and will be playing away in the next round against FMP. Borac recorded their fourth loss of the season and will aim to improve their performance against Studentski centar.
