Jayson Tatum led his team to a big win over the Cleveland Cavaliers by 109:102 in the fourth game.
This win puts Boston Celtics one step away from a new Eastern Conference Finals appearance, as they now lead the series 3-1. The key moment occurred a few hours before the game when the Ohio franchise announced that Donovan Mitchell would not be playing due to an injury. Adding to their woes, Jarrett Allen was also out, significantly reducing the Cleveland Cavaliers’ chances even before the game began.
The visitors had a 13-point lead by the end of the first quarter and managed to maintain it throughout the game. Then, towards the end of the first half, Max Strus hit three consecutive three-pointers, bringing the Cavaliers to 62:57 at halftime.
A similar scenario unfolded at the end of the second half. The home team kept close, reducing the gap to 102:97, and once again, Max Strus took responsibility a minute before the end. He attempted a three-pointer but missed, sealing the fourth game in the series for the Boston Celtics.
The winning team was led by Jayson Tatum, who scored 33 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and had five assists. Jaylen Brown contributed 27 points and eight rebounds. On the other side, Darius Garland took advantage of Mitchell’s absence, scoring 30 points and dishing out seven assists.
The next game will be played on May 16 at 1:00 AM.
